Mixing It Up
January 9, 2013Since my last blog I have taken on work a couple of days a week selling surfboards at the Quiksilver store in Torquay and I have to say I am loving it.
Its nice to feel part of a team and talking to plenty of people about something I could talk about all day being surfboards. Sometimes you can feel like a hermit working a studio day after day by yourself other than the times Dave comes down to paint the Doug Bartlett work. Its nice to feel like you are part of the community again and to be working amonst such a great group of people.
I have also bee busy finishing art for the LA Artshow. Exhibiting Internationally has been a little more challeniging of late but one just keeps forging forward in expectation that when the market does pick up we will be well placed to capitalize. With all the overheads that come with exhibiting internationally it would be easy to drop it but it has always been successful for us so we forge ahead.
I have also been working on more of the hand painted pieces after one of the directors of Art Equity in Sydney strongly suggested I should do so to expand my artistic expertise, after seeing some of my life drawings. I am glad for the nudge as I am having a ball and feeling very liberated painting by hand.
